Experience a first-hand account of one of the world's most celebrated photojournalists in Ron Haviv: Freelance in a World at Risk.
Since the end of the Cold War, award-winning photojournalist, Ron Haviv, has produced some of the most important images of conflict and humanitarian crises from around the world. His work has been featured in top magazines worldwide and two critically acclaimed collections of his photographs have been published in book form. With a special focus on exposing human rights violations, Ron has covered stories in Latin America, Africa , the Middle East, Russia and the Balkans. Most recently, he documented wars in Darfur and the Democratic Republic of Congo. His searing photographs have earned Haviv some of the highest accolades in photography and numerous museums and galleries have featured his work, including the United Nations, the Louvre, and the Council on Foreign Relations.
In a career that spans more than a decade, the 35-year-old has ignored every mother's maxim: whatever you do, stay out of harms way. In recording some of the most brutal events of the end of the 20th century, he has been put on a Serb death camp list, captured by Iraqi soldiers and Serb militiamen, charged with being a spy, interrogated, imprisoned, and beaten. It's not that he courts danger, but as a photojournalist covering the best and - more often - worst of times, he is thrust into life threatening situations.
Ron Haviv: Freelance in a World at Risk chronicles the danger and the man who faced it.
