Shade Silverwing, a rather small sized teenage bat, is always being teased by the other bats. One day he challenges a bully to glimpse at the sun - an act forbidden to bats in the animal kingdom. Shade's actions get him and his colony in big trouble. The colony is forced to set off on a premature migration, putting them in grave danger. He does not realize he has set off a chain of events that threatens the forest's fragile peace.

Shade is separated from the colony during a storm and must find a way to catch up. Along the way he meets Marina Brightwing, another teenage outcast, rejected by her colony because she wears a human's band. The two embark on a perilous, action-packed journey in hopes of reuniting Shade with his colony. On the adventure, Shade comes to terms with his unique abilities, which he must harness in order to save his colony from evil False Vampire bats and avert the next Great Battle.

Based on the best-selling youth novel by internationally renowned author Kenneth Oppel, Silverwing is the first of a trilogy of books marked by mythic imagery and adventure. The third installment, Firewing, released April 2002, knocked the Harry Potter books out of the number one spot for children's and youth fiction in Canada.

Silverwing is currently airing on TELETOON Canada, Jetix US, TPS Teletoon France, KIKA Germany, TV2 Denmark, TV 2 Norway, and ToonDisney USA. The Silverwing gaming website is also now available to view online at www.silverwing.tv. The site has over 20 games incorporated into 13 levels that coincide with the television episodes.
